About Jmt Physiotherapy

Jacqui qualified with a Bsc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2007 from the University of Hertfordshire, and went on to work in the NHS for three years. One of her roles was as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Burns and Plastics at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where her interest in scar management began. As part of this role she also treated patients following breast surgery and became aware of the lack of services offered to these patients, many of whom struggle with restricted shoulder movement and pain.

Over the following years Jacqui continued working in musculoskeletal outpatient settings while gradually progressing her training with oncology. She has trained in various techniques to help patients following breast cancer treatment, including the Pink Ribbon method for Pilates and the Willem Fourie myofascial release course for scar management and movement restrictions. She has also completed three core modules in a Clinical Leadership in Oncology and Palliative Care masters, amongst other short courses at Guys and St Thomas’ and The Royal Marsden.

During this time she also taught a voluntary Pilates class through the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, and found that the group element of an exercise class offered significant psychological support to people who were going through, or had been through, similar experiences.

Jacqui is passionate about improving the support and advice that is offered to people following a cancer diagnosis, with a specific focus on informing people of the benefits of physical activity at every stage of treatment. Through her 11 years experience as an outpatient physiotherapist, she can treat for general musculoskeletal aches and pains, as well as symptoms specifically relating to cancer treatment, such as restricted shoulder function and pain following breast surgery.

It was on the basis of this specialist interest and the distinct lack of services in this area of healthcare, that JMT Physiotherapy was founded. We do not believe in working in isolation, and will endeavour to work alongside consultants, surgeons and any other health professionals involved in your care wherever possible in order to provide the best possible service.
